when you are ready to begin your online business you may be thinking should i begin with a web site or a blog now of course you don’t have to decide on any of these in the beginning if you don’t wont to they can come later and if your marketing affiliate programs these are not essential.

I say this because there are many free content sites where you can give information about your services or products and use these as a base for your clients leads or customers.

However your goal is to brand you and your business so a blog or website you will definitely want to have it will be like your home where you can make alterations or changes.

The difference between the two is that a website tends to be more static once you have all your information products or services on your site the need to change will not be as frequent as a blog.

Where a blog is your way of branding you and giving continued valuable content to your target market and engage your audience. Most blogs centre on establishing a trust and friendship with your market of course you are still monetizing and offering solutions to your leads or clients but essentially it is about your target markets needs not yours.

Where a website might look a little bit like a shop or store for customers to purchase however the web site can be similar to a blog this will depend on how you want to use your website as marketing funnel or information or both. Keywords are words that people type in to the search engines to find a product or service they can be short or long they must be related to what you are searching for.

For example golf clubs would be a keyword  if you are wanting to buy or find out about the price or the latest news or literally anything about golf clubs. If on the other hand you wanted something more specific on the keyword golf clubs like advice on golf clubs or best buy for golf clubs.

Then the search engines will narrow your search to that phrase.

Keywords are very important in your marketing strategy because they are specific to what you are offering the more you narrow down your keywords the more targeted your audience will become.

Competition for short or single words like health, weight loss, dog training etc, are huge because there is a large market that just relates to those words, so if your in a business online your going to find it tough to compete with this type of marketing.

To make it less competitive and more specific you will want to narrow down the searches, so that you will be in a position for that market to find you.

Lets say that one of your products is dog training collars then having an article or page for that particular resource means your market has narrowed and you have a much better chance to be found and lead that target market to your page.

Once at that page they then have the option to view your other more competitive products or services.   It will much easier for you to promote a less competitive area and then show them your other resources, rather then the other way around.

Once you have found those keywords that describes your site page or information you will want to optimize them for SEO (search engine optimization) so that you will be found much quicker.

In other words these keywords now need to be in your title or headline and in various areas on your site or promotional page or article. The main keyword or your primary keyword needs to be the centre point,  because is specific to what your service or business relates too.

However don’t over do the keywords in your pages as this can be harmful to your searches as google may look at this as Spam. So i would recommend three or four and space them out, but always remember to put then in the title and the first paragraph.

Because search engines look for these first in your title and headline and will look at your domain name. So when deciding on a website or blog you should try to relate your business in a domain name being your website name, it is not the most important but it will help with SEO, something to consider.
